Arvan Pradiansyah Profile

Arvan Pradiansyah is a Happiness Inspirer, public speaker, consultant, facilitator and columnist for several nationwide media in Indonesia including SWA and the daily Bisnis Indonesia who has also written five best-selling inspirational books, You Are A Leader!, Life is Beautiful, Cherish Every Moment, The 7 Laws of Happiness, and You Are Not Alone.

Arvan Pradiansyah is very popular as a motivator and public speaker in Indonesia. He has spoken in front of thousands of people, led motivation sessions for hundreds of companies in Indonesia, and has a radio talk show to spread inspiration and motivation. For the past three years he has been a regular speaker on the talk-show Smart Happiness on Smart FM Network Jakarta every Friday from 7 to 8 AM Western Indonesia Time and broadcast to 25 cities in Indonesia.

 

Arvan has been a speaker on radio for the past 11 years beginning with hosting the Covey Leadership program on PAS FM, followed by Semut Hitam on Radio Bahana, Life Excellence on Trijaya Network, Friday Spirit on Ramako, and Lite is Beautiful on Lite FM.

 

Arvan—who was a lecturer in FISIP (Social and Political Science Department) of UI (University of Indonesia) for 13 years—is now Managing Director of the Institute for Leadership & Life Management (ILM), an institute for training and consultancy in the field of human resources, especially in the development of Leadership and achievement of Happiness which is based in Jakarta.

He worked in journalism and public relations after graduating from the Communications Department of FISIP UI, but found greater satisfaction working in the field of human resources. As Arvan felt that he still lacked sufficient knowledge in this field, he continued his education attaining a Master of Science in Industrial Relations & Human Resources Management from the London School of Economics (LSE) thanks to support from a British Chevening Awards scholarship from the British Council. Arvan was also fortunate to receive a scholarship from Japan Airlines to take part in the “Summer Session on Asian Studies” at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan.

Arvan continually hones his skills in Human Resources Management. When he worked as a consultant at AAJ-MaST (Management & Skills Training) he developed the HR training and consultancy division in cooperation with MaST Australia. MaST is an international training company based in London.

Upon returning from his studies in England in 1996, Arvan joined Development Dimension International Indonesia (DDI Indonesia), a consultancy firm in the field of HR development based in Pittsburgh, USA. When he joined DDI, the company had just set up an office in Jakarta. Arvan was the first consultant and Master Trainer for the DDI products in Indonesian language such as Skills for Empowered Workforce, Targeted Selection, Performance Management, and Service Plus. At DDI Arvan also developed the DDI facilitators and consultants.

In 2000 Arvan joined Dunamis, a HR consultancy firm which is the authorized representative for Franklin Covey International based in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA. Dunamis is known for trainings, among others, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” which is very popular in Indonesia. During his time at Dunamis, Arvan had many opportunities to assist large companies in Indonesia in developing their organizations and Human Resources.

After three years with Dunamis, Arvan decided to become a practitioner in the field of HR. He then joined PT Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia as General Manager for Human Resources working in the fields of Organization & Employee Development, Recruitment & Assessment, and Industrial Relations. Two years later, Arvan established ILM.

During his student years Arvan was active in various student and youth activities. Some of his memorable achievements include: “Model Student I University of Indonesia”, Head of the Indonesian Student Association for International Studies (ISAFIS), Deputy Chairperson Student Senate FISIP UI, Deputy Chairperson BPM FISIP UI, Chairperson I Indonesian Students Association (PPI) London, and Chairperson I Alumni Families of Indonesia Japan Friendship Program (KAPPIJA 21)..

Arvan has also been active in international activities, including: ASEAN-wide Inter-University Debates at Malaya University, Malaysia; Conference of Worldwide Journalists in Taipei, Taiwan; Conference of Asia Pacific Journalists in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Indonesia-Australia Youth Exchange Program, Indonesia-Japan 21st Century Friendship Program, Leadership Development Program in Paris, The President Club, Franklin Covey International in Hawaii, Future Search Conference in Philadelphia, and American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) in Orlando, Florida, USA.
